Today on The Italian Guest I am going talk about fitness. I recently had the pleasure to experience this new way of training, which uses EMS to stimulate your body and improve your workout. 20fit is located in Bergamo downtown, it’s a modern gym and well furnished. The predominat colours are blu and white as you can notice in the pictures and the ceiling with the little arches give a natural touch to it. Such a friendly and modern atmosphere!
You’ll be wondering now about the definition and the benefit of EMS. It stands for Electric Muscle Stimulation. Technically, EMS is a total body workout with body current. The stimulation current is not dangerous. Why? Because our muscles work constantly! In this process, small intrinsic electric pulses initiate every movement. So, during the training with current stimulation, this pulse is simply fortified by the additional pulse from outside. Therefore, the impulse does not seem foreign to the body.
I’ve started my first workout with Matteo, my personal trainer and after he explained me about EMS and the benefit of it, we started to set my values. Let me tell you one thing, the higher the percentage, the tougher the training is! I started off with a 30% at the beginning and it was quite hard! The electrodes are placed directly on the body to each important muscle group; so all the impulses reach their target. It’s easy, and you can’t go wrong! Regarding the benefits, EMS training is in gyms, wellness and beauty centers, as well as in competitive sport, rehabilitation and medicine. Elite athletes use EMS in addition to their training in order to improve their strength and speed. Physical therapists make use of EMS for joint-sparing muscle formation and for targeted back exercises. Personal trainers, gyms and beauty centers concentrate on the fitness and beauty aspects: body shaping through muscle formation and catabolism of fat, stimulation of metabolism and tightening of connective tissue.
Every training lesson lasts 20 minutes.After the training you get all you need to take a shower and be fresh. It’s a really good way to forget your training bag at home!
My experience after a couple of training sessions was good, it was very interesting because it’s working all your body muscles. I would say that is important you do it in conjunction with another thing like nutricion behaviour because you know, nutricion has a huge part in affecting our body! They say the 20 minutes session replaces a 4 hour training. I disagree with that. I did felt the high intensity in that short time but it’s not comparable, in my opinion, to a 4 hours workout. It obviously depends from the physical condition of the client.
