This Bed & Breakfast is situated in a peaceful area and is ideal to get away from the crowds when you need to recharge. Located in Cynthiana, a quiet and charming town in Kentucky, Ashford Acres Inn unites the best of southern charm with modern elegance.
Cynthiana was established in 1793 on the lands of Robert Harrison. According to tradition, the town was named in honor of Harrison’s daughters, Cynthia, and Anna. It is incredible how much history you can find in such a small town about the Civil War heritage. Cynthiana is located at a short trip away from Louisville and Lexington, famous for the Breeder’s Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious horse races. Bourbon distilleries and horse farms are a step away, which makes the stay at Ashford Acres Inn even more interesting.
The property was built in the late 1858’s and contains history that dates back to the Civil War. Major upgrades were made to the home in 2010 and 2015 to make it the luxury inn you will find today. The property sites across 64 acres farm of rolling green hills. You cannot miss the white columns sitting at the entrance with the whitewashed balcony. So majestic!
Magnolia, Maples, Ash and Garden. These are the five guest suites at Ashford Acres Inn. Each and every one of them is very spacious with particular attention to details. We stayed in the Magnolia suite, a very beautiful and open room on the second floor. This room is named after the Magnolia tree that grows just outside the window. I can only imagine how beautiful that tree must be during the spring when it is blooming!
The bedroom features a gas fireplace and antique-style four-post king bed with luxurious linens and soft pillows. There is a comfy blue couch where you can enjoy a tv with all the well-known streaming services. A small hallway leads to the private bathroom, which has the early-1900’s American nostalgia. The black and white floor tile is very delicate and refined. It adds a certain character to the appearance and comfort of the bathroom. I loved the skincare product selection from BeeKind line. Fresh hints of lemon with extracts of honey. Along with the recyclable packaging and skin-friendly formulas, the company is supporting honeybee and sustainable pollination research.
The suite has a table for two where you can ask for in-room service or go downstairs and enjoy your meal in the comfort of the living room. Nina and I had such an amazing dinner. I chose the filet mignon with truffle oil fries and she ordered an eggplant parmigiana with roasted asparagus and mac and cheese. For dessert, we were spoiled with a strawberry cheesecake and a jumbo half-baked cookie with ice cream. It could have not got any better for our Valentine’s Day night. We even had fresh roses on the table with a bottle of red wine.
The next morning, we experienced one of the best breakfasts we had in a while. A rich southern breakfast with bacon, rolls, potatoes, eggs, and fresh fruit. Breakfast is complimentary with your stay. If weather permits, you can have breakfast outside, in the veranda.
Ashford Acres Inn is not only a charming bed and breakfast, but also a popular southern wedding venue with multiple options for outdoor and indoor locations, among them an event barn that can seat up to 250 people inside. If a romantic wedding in a charming and tasteful setting is what you are looking for, Ashford Acres Inn is the place for you!
We really enjoyed our memorable stay at this charming and historic B&B. If we find ourselves in the heart of horse country in the future, we would certainly love to stay here again!
