BBQ is Italy can be a complete new food experience and it’s something you should try during summer time.
Summer is synonym of BBQ or vice versa? Regardless of what comes first, before leaving to the USA, I met up with family and relatives, in Bergamo, to enjoy some good barbecue.
It became almost a tradition, we gather all together, everyone brings something. Some people we’ll take care of the meat, other we’ll think about salad, dessert etc. Some family like ours, for example, have already their assigned task: most of the times, we take care of wine. Let’s say, everyone does something!
While we wait for the grill to be sufficiently hot, we start with a little aperitivo and we open a bottle of wine. All of that is followed by a good chat and laughters. It’s such a good atmosphere!
Wine definitely plays a central and important part in rounding off the perfect barbecue. In Italy, people predilict red wine because it’s the best to pair up with meat.
In this particular occasion, we opened two bottles of Nero D’Avola Nadaria, produced by the Cusumano winery. Nero D’Avola is the most widely planted red in Sicily and, as the name suggests, it comes from Avola in the south-east of the island, in the province of Siracusa.
Whenever it is, in the garden, outside the balcony or in a open space on Summer BBQ is one of the best ways to enjoy good weather with friends. So, if you’re a lot of people, you don’t have to worry. Everyone gets to do something, in this way it will be much easier.
Do you like bbq? How do you organize it on a typical day? 🍖🙌🏼
