Leave Milan behind to explore San Pellegrino Terme’s sparkling mineral springs and wander the streets of charming villages set in the Alps’ scenic foothills.
Two weeks ago, my girlfriend and I went to San Pellegrino Terme, in Val Brembana and close to Bergamo, known for San Pellegrino sparkling natural mineral water, a premium sparkling mineral water that flows from a thermal spring.
Until the beginning of the XX century, San Pellegrino was a famous holiday resort attended by the middle class coming from all over Europe: there was a Casino and a Grand Hotel, a wonderful Art Nouveau seven-floor building.
WHAT TO DO
You can visit San Pellegrino Terme without a stop at the QC Terme San Pellegrino.
They have modernized the pools and fixtures but a retro style entrance, wrought iron gates and banisters have been preserved setting an ambiance of yesteryear glamour.
Salon style corners with cushy leather armchairs welcome guest to relax and wind-down. Perfumed oils and ambient fragrances are displayed with tester strips for guests who would like to recreate a spa atmosphere at home.
Sitting in one of the outdoor pools when it is cold and gloomy outside is truly atmospheric.
Don’t forget, take some time to step outside the water to look around. If you’re luckty anough, there will be a pretty nice sky waiting for you!
QC Terme San Pellegrino is very spacious and offers a variety of facilities. One of our favorites were the various kinds of saunas and aromatherapy rooms.
So, if you’re spending a whole day at the spa, you should definitely pay extra money for the lunch ( 18 from 12 to 3 pm from monday to friday). It’s a luxury buffet lunch with a selection of meat, cheese, soups, pasta and much more! Included in the entrance price, guests can also enjoy an aperitivo dinner – a buffet of Italian appetizers and prosecco wine. It is quite amusing to sit in such an elegant environment, sip some great wine and eat delicious food, when everybody is wearing a white bathrobe!

WHERE TO STAY
In order to fully enjoy a relax day at the spa and find out what San Pellegrino Terme has to offer you, I recommend you to spend a night here.
We stayed at the Hotel Centrale which was a really enjoyable experience – now don’t get me wrong, the rooms are old style Italian red bedspreads but they are fully furnished, with private bathroom, shower, TV. and with generous sun terraces. The views and their accommodation service are what it’s all about!
The Hotel Centrale has its own spa, a wellness center with everything you need to relax. For the list of their services and opening hours, check their website.
Breakfast is known for being the most important meal of the day and the hotel provides a continental breakfast: from the classical Italian cappuccino and croissant to eggs, cheese and ham. You’ll be satisfied and ready to kick off the day!
Overall, It’s a good hotel and a great base for exploring the area. It’s really close to the spa so you can walk there!!
