Today on the Italian Guest I’m gonna start a new series dedicated to New York. Before coming back to Italy I went there on holiday with my girlfriend and her mum.
At the end of December we spent 6 days in NYC. The trip went by so quickly! With so much to do and see, it’s hard not to feel like no matter how much you accomplish, you’re still missing out something. So, If you’re considering visiting NYC take in consideration to stay at least 4 days, probably your best bet if you want to see the major landmarks, hit the shops and really experience the city life.
New York City, also known as “the city that never sleeps” or the “Big Apple” is sometimes called the greatest city in the world. Before the arrival of Europeans on North Atlantic shores, the area was home to the Algonquian tribes who lived off the land’s rich bounty and hunted and fished in the local rivers. The Lenape Native Americans called the land Manhattan. Present day NYC is made up of five Boroughs:
- Manhattan
- Staten Island
- Queens
- Brooklyn
- The Bronx.
A big part of what makes New York so great is its atmosphere, and you can soak it up by just walking the city streets. New York is truly one of a kind. It is a city that really never sleeps, and definitely somewhere that once you visit, you want to be a part of it. I want to share with you my experience, the places I visited, restaurants and more.
First of all, let’s start by answering this question: When is the perfect time to visit New York?
There isn’t a perfect time! New York is a year-round destination with four distinct seasons. Winter can be magical, with thick snowfalls followed by cloudless skies. Summer has the most reliable weather, although August can be insufferably humid. Spring and autumn are the best, with clear blue skies and a crispness to the air, the leaves in Central Park turning a beautiful golden red by October.
Whether you’re a foodie, an art enthusiast, a theatre lover or just someone who loves a fast-paced life, The Big Apple is the place for you!
New York City totally lived up to our expectations and we left with a heavy heart and lots of good memories. Honestly, there’s A LOT to do in New York and no amount of time is enough to fully experience the city. I can’t wait to go back!
